THE BIBLE WEEK We study Biblical texts from the per-spective of Jewish and Christian traditions and challenge it and our-selves through insights from literature, art, psychology and other dis-ciplines. This year’s text: Psalms 31 – 41. The study groups in the morning ad-dress the issues raised by these texts, so that we can learn together. Jewish and Christian resource per-sons help with the text study, dis-cussion and exchange of experi-ence. We invite all those interested in the Bible and Jewish-Christian dialogue. STUDY GROUPS OFFERED THIS YEAR All groups are based on a shared study of the Hebrew text of the Bible. However, first-hand knowledge of Hebrew is only needed for group 1. Each group has a different em-phasis. 1. Hebrew text (Hebrew knowledge is assumed) 2. Approaching Psalms (for first time participants) (Introduction to Jewish-Christian Bible study) a) with Hebrew knowledge b) without Hebrew knowledge 3. Bible text and creative work 4. Symbol, Creation and Language in the Biblical Text KEYNOTE LECTURES There will be three keynote lectures. They will be given in the mother tongue of the speaker. A written translation of the text is available. AS WELL as study groups and lectures the week has the following features: • “Speakers’ Corner” (contributions by participants) • The “Fringe” (creative opportunities) • Teku (any questions .... ?) • mutual invitation for the celebration of Services • optional excursion • private meetings and free time FREE TIME POSSIBLITIES • Haus Ohrbeck is situated in the foothills of the Teutoburger Wald. The delightful country-side offers possibilities for walks. • The city of Osnabrück can be reached easily by public transport. There are many historical buildings, a famous university and the Felix-Nussbaum-Museum. • Please bring any musical instruments and music with you.
